About Coastal Glass Tinting
Since 1980, Coastal Glass Tinting has been providing the Southeastern North Carolina area with premier automotive, residential and commercial Solar Control window Film sales and installation.
Jim and Alice Dean developed a love for energy saving products in the 70s and began their business in 1980 as Coastal Energy Saver, Inc. At that time they offered Solar water heating systems, Solar Screening and Solar Control Window Film.
“People were most interested in tinting their vehicles and reducing heat and glare in their homes resulting in lower utility bills. Partnered with CPFilms, the world’s largest film manufacturer, the Solar Film side of our business began to grow. We are still with this manufacturer to this day. They are now owned by Eastman. We are a Llumar Select Pro FormulaOne Automotive and a Vista Residential/Commercial exclusive window film dealer.”
The films have evolved over the years and they continue to improve the chemistry to meet the industry and customers’ needs. All the films come with Life Time Manufacturers warranties and come in various degrees of shading and performance.
“People choose tinting for different reasons. They may have heat, glare or fading issues. They may need privacy and security or have safety concerns. Some homes have fading issues and need Ultraviolet rejection. We also have a line of decorative films that are desirable for some home or commercial applications. We have developed close relationships with our local car dealerships, building contractors, glass companies and interior designers over the years.”
“We are very grateful for the continued support we have been given by our customers and hope our film products have and will continue to improve the quality of their lives in some small way.”

Our Manager – Carrie Taylor
Carrie Taylor is proud to serve the customers at Coastal Glass Tinting, which has operated here in Wilmington for more than 30 years. As the general manager of Coastal Glass Tinting, Carrie is an integral part of the business, and has been since she took the position in 2003.
Originally from Pennsylvania, she relocated to beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina, in the ‘80s and has been happy to call our little piece of heaven her home ever since. It is here that she developed her love for sun, surf, entertaining, history and cars.
One of her favorite parts of working at Coastal Glass Tinting is educating the customers on the many benefits of window film, especially the details that the average person wouldn’t normally know. According to Carrie, “Window film isn’t just about darkening your windows. A quality film makes life a lot more comfortable in your car and your home. It’s also a really nice feeling when a customer is all smiles when they come to pick up their vehicle after we have tinted it.”
One of her favorite memories from her career thus far at Coastal Glass is when the company was awarded the contract to tint the entire Verizon call center. She added, “The opening of that center in Wilmington was a huge deal for our community and Coastal Glass. It was a great feeling of accomplishment that we were chosen for the tinting of the glass to protect the occupants and a part of that project.”
While Coastal Glass and its clients receive 100% of Carrie’s focus when she’s there, her time away from the office is spent with her husband, son, and their “fur babies.” She loves to host dinner parties with friends and try new recipes. She recommends that any new residents in the area make Coastal Glass Tinting one of his or her first stops. When living in the coastal south, it is essential to have your car and home windows tinted for both health and comfort-related reasons. Her second recommendation is a trip to downtown historic Wilmington to participate in the “Old Ghost Tour of Wilmington” walk. “We have done it three times and it never gets old. I love hearing the old stories and history of our city,” explains Carrie.
As a longtime resident of Wilmington and a dedicated employee at Coastal Glass Tinting, Carrie knows coastal weather and how important window tinting is to comfort and safety. When you’re ready to consider window film as a way to protect your car, home, business or boat from the damaging effects of the sun, call Carrie today!
